The University Honors College seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Urban Social Science beginning Fall 2019. Candidates with degrees in the fields of sociocultural anthropology and human geography will be considered; a Ph.D. in one of these fields must be completed by August 30, 2019. The position is open in regards to subfield specialization, although we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in ethnic, gender, queer, or information studies.
This position is teaching intensive with a primary emphasis on disciplinary methodologies and writing instruction but we also expect candidates to have a strong scholarly agenda. The successful candidate will have an approach to teaching that includes close textual analysis, writing, and disciplinary methods. Teaching responsibilities will include core courses in the University Honors curriculum including the three-term first year sequence, the second year social sciences research methods course, advanced interdisciplinary seminars, and thesis courses.
The position includes an expectation of service activities including taking an active role in matters of college governance as well as participation in tasks associated with the annual Honors Admissions cycle.
Doctorate in Sociocultural Anthropology or Human Geography. ABD will be considered but degree must be earned by 8/30/2019
Interdisciplinary experience preferred but not required.
