Post-doctoral Research and Teaching Fellowship - Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention.
Binghamton University seeks applications for a one-year (non-renewable) post-doctoral Fellow, in conjunction with its new Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention, to be launched in 2017. The GMAP Fellowship supports recent recipients of terminal degrees in academic disciplines contributing to the study of policies and practices designed to prevent the commission of acts of genocide and mass atrocities.
Applicants must have their terminal degree conferred by the Fellowship start date of August 20, 2017. Recent PhDs in such disciplines (e.g. political science and international studies, sociology or anthropology, geography or public administration) are welcome to apply. In appropriate circumstances applications from recent recipients of the J.D., and from those already occupying temporary or tenure-track positions, will also be considered. Binghamton University's GMAP Institute will concentrate specifically on the formation, implementation, and assessment of practical preventative measures and policies.
** Please note that these disciplines, which are listed in the informational questions included within the online application process, are provided as examples and not specifically required. Other related disciplines are welcomed and fully considered.
Applicants should present a research program or proposal that documents this practical dimension. The Fellow will conduct research, collaborate with Binghamton University faculty and graduate students associated with the Institute, and will offer at least one public lecture and/or workshop during the academic year. The Fellow will also be expected to offer one academic course per semester related to the Fellow's research at either the graduate or undergraduate level, in an appropriate department. The GMAP Fellowship offers a competitive salary and benefits package including financial support for research activities.
