The Department of Geography invites applications for a ONE YEAR VISITING Assistant Professor who will contribute to the department's teaching mission. The position will begin Fall 2017 with an appointment of one year. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative teacher with a commitment to high-quality, rigorous undergraduate and graduate level education. The candidate will primarily be expected to teach a course in our introductory sequence (Introduction to Geography) that serves at least 200 students. Other courses include: Environmental Planning/Policy, Water Resources Planning & Management, and Natural Hazards. Involvement in advising students and committee work is also expected. The teaching load is 3/2 - that is three courses during the fall semester and two courses during the spring semester.
The successful candidate will:
Possess a Ph.D. in Geography by 9/1/17.
Demonstrate highly skilled and effective teaching ability.
Provide a learning environment that supports student success, implements effective learning strategies, delivers high quality instruction, and assesses student learning.
