The Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia seeks a historian of Latin America and/or the Spanish Caribbean for an appointment of up to two years as an Academic General Faculty Member (Tenure-Ineligible) at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank, starting July 25, 2017, through May 24, 2019. Period, geography and thematic focus are open. An ability and willingness to teach one globally-oriented course each year is a plus. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester, one course of 30-60 students and one seminar-sized course of 12-15 students. Applicants at the Assistant rank must have a PhD in hand at the time of application, or be scheduled to defend not later than May 2017. Applicants at the Associate rank must have a PhD in hand and a record of excellent teaching over a period of at least six years.
