Shorecrest Preparatory School seeks a faculty member to join the Social Studies and World Languages departments in the fall of 2019. Experience instructing economics, religion, or other contemporary social studies electives are preferred. AP courses suchs as Human Geography and Micro and Macro Economics are a plus. Ability to teach Spanish entirely in the target language using the communicative approach is essential. The ideal candidate will also be enthusiastic about innovative pedagogies such as discussion-based teaching, authentic assessment, and Project Based Learning.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in either subject area required; a Master’s or Doctoral degree is preferred.
Experience leading seminar-style discussions, a strong commitment to the teaching of writing and literary analysis.
Collaborative and engaged member of the faculty who is committed to curriculum design, teacher growth, and best practices for student learning.
Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising and supporting students outside of the classroom.
Serve as an advisor to 12-14 students, guiding students in academic, extracurricular, social, and personal development, and acting as primary liaison to parents/guardians.
Sponsor a student club and/or coach an athletic team.
Demonstrate a high degree of cultural competency and a commitment to a community that values equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Comfortable using online texts, iPad devices, and Learning Management System.
