JOB PURPOSE: Perform research in area of responsibility and develop a comprehensive regional prehistoric context and research design for the Guernsey area, which includes the Wyoming Military's Joint training Area at Camp Guernsey, Platte County, Wyoming.
The location of this position is noted as Laramie with occasional travel required to and from Guernsey, WY and Platte County. The successful candidate will be hired at the postdoctoral level for a one year (twelve month- fiscal year) appointment with benefits. The successful candidate may also choose to work a two to three month temporary competitively paid field position as a member of the regular Guernsey archaeological crew within the research area, prior to initiating the Post-Doc appointment, in order to familiarize themselves with the unique environs and conditions of the project area. Expected workweek is 40 hours, with weekends off. Anticipated Start Date for CRM position: July 1, 2019. Post-Doc position will begin August 30, 2019 and run through August 30, 2020. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Anthropology in hand with an emphasis in archaeology prior to post-doctoral research start date. Experience researching prehistory in North America. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience. Excellent communication skills. Excellent writing skills Quantitative analyses experience Lithic analysis experience including source analyses techniques DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Fieldwork leadership experience in the western United States. Statistical and analytical skills. Spacial analyses in G.I.S. Develop/adapt new technologies/methodologies for archaeological research. Good database development, management, and manipulation skills. Knowledge of the geography of the intermountain, plains, and Rocky Mountain regions. Familiarity with historical and archaeological cultural sequences in the Northwestern Plains and surrounding areas.
