The Department of History and Geography seeks applications for a Non-Tenure Track Renewable Lecturer /Academic Advisor beginning on January 6, 2020.
Primary Responsibilities :
The Academic Advisor will provide academic advising, guidance, and support to undergraduate students and may teach up to six (6) credit hours per semester during the academic year, depending on advising load and other responsibilities. Additionally, the advisor must participate in recruiting efforts, orientation and advising events, professional training, and other duties as assigned toward the goal of promoting student recruitment, retention, persistence, accomplishment, efficacy, and success. The position carries an academic year appointment with summer orientation and advising duties covered by a separate stipend.
Required are a Master's degree appropriate to the program with several years of experience related to academic advising; familiarity with university processes, procedures, resources, and academic programs; and a working knowledge of university systems such as SAP, Navigate, Perceptive Content, and Qualtrics. Additionally, the position requires a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; exceptional communication skills; strong teamwork skills; and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
