The USC Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture + Urbanism is looking for a design instructor to teach MLA students in the final year design-research curriculum (Advanced Design-Research). Ideal candidates are landscape architects with a strong investment in research or a landscape design scholar. Research topics related to urbanism, climate change, sociopolitical or sociocultural perspectives on the design of urban or regional landscapes should be broad enough for students to pursue their own passions while guided by an overarching research question. New disciplinary knowledge and innovative landscape strategies are the expected curricular outcome.
Candidates must have at least one professional degree in Landscape Architecture, preferably a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) or PhD. The program is looking for candidates with a strong research agenda, experience teaching in a design studio and strong academic integrity. Please include topical proposals for design-research in the cover letter. Geographic focus can range but because of COVID restrictions on travel, accessibility by car should be considered.
Year-long appointment with a research seminar in the Fall (sets up the research question, methodology, geographies and develops references to support the design-research studio in the Spring) and a design-studio in the Spring.
Part Time Faculty Position in Graduate Landscape Architecture Program.
