The Middle School History and Social Studies Teacher will join APT during a period of programmatic growth and development and will be instrumental in the ongoing, qualitative progress of the school. Strategic priorities for the school include building a more rigorous and innovative curriculum and strengthening the school’s commitment to wellness. Teaching four sections of history, student mentoring, and offering and facilitating enrichment courses.
Experienced instruction of various aspects of history and social studies from geography, civics, world cultures, and American history.
Guiding students in developing skills essential to effective learning practices, including creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Modeling growth mindset regarding best practices and important trends in curriculum, pedagogy, educational technology, and co-curricular activities.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
Bachelors’ Degree with coursework in History and Social Studies.
Two or more years of teaching experience.
Demonstrated expertise teaching a range of students with variant levels of critical faculties such as thinking, reading, speaking, and writing.
Strong proficiency with technology appropriate to education.
Proficient in the development of curriculum.
A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni.
Broad and deep knowledge of traditional and emerging curricular and pedagogical trends, current thinking about best practices in teaching and learning.
An honest person who will live the school’s values and who effectively blends candor, care, and empathy in dealing with others.
An approachable person who builds meaningful relationships listens well, and respects differences in opinion.
