We are searching for an energetic social studies teacher to join our faculty. The social studies teacher’s responsibilities include teaching elements of history, geography, politics, economics, religion, and culture to pupils. You should keep abreast of current events and initiate spirited, respectful debates amongst students. You will also be required to set and grade various assessments. Specific teaching assignments include AP United States History, Economics, United States Government and World Humanities.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Develop lesson plans and select learning material and resources that will help achieve curriculum objectives.
Execute lessons efficiently using different styles of teaching depending on the content.
Analyze needs, interests, strengths, and weaknesses of students and differentiate instruction accordingly.
Monitor student progress and shift expectations to promote academic growth.
Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere.
Teach students to think critically and with an interdisciplinary mindset.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and families.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
The successful candidate should demonstrate passion and commitment to an interdisciplinary approach as well as source appropriate learning material and present varying viewpoints that allow students to feel safe and successful. A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools is essential.

Basic requirements include but are not limited to:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree History/Social Studies 6-12
A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience
Certified or experienced in Advanced Placement instruction
Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
A desire to seek out professional development activities related to the latest instructional strategies, student growth and best pedagogical practices.
Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the Sacred Heart community
Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs
