Position Summary
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is recruiting one tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Full Professor to fill the Alabama Power Foundation Endowed Chair position. The following areas of research expertise will be emphasized in the search:

• Power Systems

• Energy Conversion

• Power Electronics

• Control Systems

Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship activities.

Detailed Position Information
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Alabama (https://ece.eng.ua.edu/) invites applications for our next Alabama Power Foundation Professor. Applicants must demonstrate a strong external funding record, scholarly productivity and impact record, and Ph.D. student graduation rate commensurate with appointment at the Professor rank. Applicants in all areas of electrical or computer engineering are sought, but candidates with emphasis in power systems, energy conversion, power electronics, and control systems are of particular interest. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment. Applicants must show potential to establish a quality research program, publish in refereed professional journals, collaborate effectively with other faculty, and excel in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must also meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Professor.

Preferred Qualifications
Particular interest will be given to those candidates with expertise in power systems, energy conversion, power electronics, and control systems. The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong external funding record, publication record, and Ph.D. graduation rate commensurate with appointment at the Professor rank. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional communication skills.
