The Institute for Southern Studies and the Walker Institute for International and Area Studies at the University of South Carolina invite applications for a Professional Track Faculty member. The ideal applicant will teach undergraduate courses and conduct service related to the transnational Latinx community in the US South, as well as making contributions to our curricula in Global Studies, Latin American Studies, and Southern Studies. The preferred candidate should be able to teach the history and culture of both the American South and Latin America and the Caribbean, including some of the longstanding historical, sociocultural, and economic relationships between the Anglophone South and Latin America. This 9-month professional track appointment is renewable based on Dean's approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. The base teaching load for professional faculty is 4-4, however, we anticipate the successful candidate will receive course reductions in consideration for significant service to Institutes, college, and university including public facing programming.
