Position Summary The University of Alabama Department of Journalism and Creative Media seeks an Assistant Professor, non-tenure earning, renewable appointment of up to three years in the area of electronic news and digital media. The position begins August 16, 2023.
Detailed Position Information The successful candidate will teach diverse courses in newsgathering practices including audio and video storytelling, writing for all forms of news and digital media, videography, nonlinear editing, and delivery and production across media platforms including newscast production. The requirements also specifically include working with the C&IS Digital Media Center and potential collaboration with the other three academic departments in the college. A candidate should also have an interest in advising The Capstone Association of Black Journalists or another departmental student organization such as the Radio Television and Digital News Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, BEA Student Clubs.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates should have earned a terminal degree in electronic journalism or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications Professional media experience with 3-5 years minimum; some teaching experience as a lab instructor or adjunct, and a teamwork-based approach to working with students and a professional staff similar to a working newsroom.
