Limited Term / Assistant Professor of Art History.
Elon University seeks a Limited term Assistant Professor of Art History for a one-year sabbatical replacement starting August 2023. Requirements: PhD or ABD in art history or visual culture, a record of professional presentations, and teaching experience as the instructor of record at the college level. Teaching responsibilities will be six (6) courses for the year, including two sections of our introductory thematic course ARH 2120: Art History of the Modern World, one section of ARH 3200: Issues in Contemporary Art, and three (3) introductory and/or upper-level courses in the candidate’s research areas. These may include museum/curatorial studies courses or art history methodologies. The successful candidate should be eager to work within Elon's relationship-rich and engaged learning pedagogies in an innovative art history program that emphasizes critical reading, discussion, and problem-solving rather than lecture and memorization. Preference will be given to candidates whose area of expertise is either the Global South or Critical Race Art History.
