Position Announcement:
The Department of Geography (https://geography.indiana.edu/) at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a tenure position at the level of Associate or Full Professor to begin in the fall of 2023. We seek an individual with expertise in climate change with a focus on hydrologic extremes who is committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research spans multiple spatial and temporal scales to examine how climate change affects the timing and intensity of storms, floods, droughts, and heat waves. Interest in disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations is strongly supported and encouraged. Applications are welcome from candidates who conduct research that uses a diverse set of methods, tools, and approaches, including combinations of field-based studies, remote sensing, laboratory experiments, and/or modeling. We value research, teaching, and service that intersects with issues of environmental justice and/or diversity and inclusivity in climate science and geography. Successful applicants will have a strong record of research productivity and external funding. We are especially interested in applicants with a strong commitment to mentoring, teaching, or outreach to people from diverse backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+) and an interest in contributing to the Department of Geography's curricular offerings, and research portfolio in ways that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars. Applicants should apply online at https://indiana.peopleadmin.com/postings/16287, including a cover letter that addresses the applicant's contributions toward research and teaching; CV; a statement on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in and out of the classroom; and names for three references who could provide letters of recommendation upon request. Review of applications will begin March 31, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. Queries can be sent to Dr. Justin Maxwell (maxweljt@indiana.edu).
