The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is an outstanding tertiary care institution with a vibrant Neuro-oncology Program (NOP) within the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Department of Neurosurgery in the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has an active and well-established program in neuro-oncology clinical research, and we are broadening our laboratory research effort in this area. We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals to fill the following 3 open research positions for investigators holding MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degrees:
Tenured Professor level neuro-oncology researcher
Assistant or Associate Professor level neuro-oncology researcher
Instructor level Neuro-oncology researcher to work with Dr. James M. Markert
The tenured and tenure track positions are open for broadly based research interests in the field of Neuro-oncology, including but not limited to both primary and metastatic adult brain tumors, genomics, proteomics/kinomics or epigenetics at the single cell level, immunobiology of host-tumor interactions and relevant patient-derived models of cancer. Successful applicants for the tenured and tenure-track positions will work in partnership with the NOP at UAB. The NOP maintains a highly collaborative group of neuro-oncology investigators with a strong, diverse research portfolio in basic, translational, and clinical investigations. Recruited faculty will join the NOP where collaborators and/or mentors can support the development of their research program in brain tumors. Added preference will be given to candidates whose research can synergize with existing UAB faculty to enable programmatic research support, e.g., multiple (principal) investigator grants.
