Position Expectations Fayetteville Academy is hiring a history teacher that is eager to join a passionate faculty and engage with a robust curriculum and thoughtful course sequence. The Middle and Upper School History core curriculum includes World Geography, Civics, Ancient Civilizations, Modern History/AP Modern History, Government/AP Government, US History/AP US History, and AP Capstone courses. Depending on candidate strengths, flexibility to teach different courses as needed will be assigned from the above list with an option to also add elective courses. This role includes maintaining lesson plans, assignments, progress reports, and grades.
Qualifications The successful candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in History (with a master’s degree preferred) and at least three-five years teaching experience in either middle or high school education. Independent school experience is preferable. Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues is essential. Problem solving and critical thinking skills, a sense of humor, enthusiasm, and a desire to collaborate are also important for this position.
