The Program of Asian American Studies (AAS), housed in the Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (SISS), at San José State University invites highly qualified and motivated applicants for a full-time, temporary teaching appointment.
AAS at San José State University was founded as a part of the student-led Ethnic Studies movements in the late-1960’s and 1970s. AAS is a growing program with a reputation for excellence in teaching, service, scholarship, and community engagement. The program has five full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty and a strong pool of lecturers, from esteemed teachers to community practitioners. AAS faculty are trained in various disciplines with distinct community and research interests that contribute to a vibrant community of activist scholars. Moreover, AAS currently serves over one thousand students a year in the General Education program, with additional plans to grow into a major in the next few years. AAS is one of three units at San José State that offers courses under AB 1460 and the Area F CSU Ethnic Studies requirement.

Ranges are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty--part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
