The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a part-time (.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Geospatial Science Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
The purpose of this position is to develop and deliver on-campus and ecampus courses in geography and geospatial science for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS). This will include courses in geospatial science and spatial reasoning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and other courses in the incumbent's area of expertise such as spatiotemporal analysis and modeling, spatial statistics, programing, and/or remote sensing. Courses may include both undergraduate and graduate courses. In addition to instruction, the incumbent will be responsible for course and curriculum development, online course and digital content development, in part in collaboration with other faculty, and coordination of online and face-to-face course content. This position may provide direction of student research projects and internships, and serve on student committees.
Typically requires Master's degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks.
Requirements :
PhD in Geography, Geospatial Science, or a closely related discipline by the start date of the position.
Relevant teaching experience and evidence of and/or commitment to teaching excellence.
Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.
Expertise with GIS theory, analysis, and applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Quantum GIS).
Expertise in geospatial information workflows (acquisition, manipulation, analysis, visualization, and storytelling).
Effective communicator in oral and written forms.
