Saint Louis University and Harris-Stowe State University are looking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in geospatial science to meet the needs of growing research and training in geospatial science in the St. Louis region. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in geospatial science, geospatial data science, Geography, geoinformatics, or a related area. The successful candidate must provide evidence of demonstrated excellence in research and commitment to teaching at the university level.Â

Research and teaching experience in GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, data science, open-source GIS, GIS programming, as well as experience applying GIS and remote sensing to location science are considered highly desirable. Teaching will include classroom-based and online lectures and project work. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in mentoring and advising students to support newly established undergraduate and Ph.D. programs in Geoinformatics and Geospatial Analytics at Saint Louis University and Sustainability and Urban Ecology (SUE) program at Harris-Stowe State University.Â
The new hire is expected to work with faculty and students at Saint Louis University, the oldest catholic, Jesuit university west of the Mississippi, and Harris-Stowe State University - a Historically Black College and University. In addition, the new hire will have the ability to enjoy shared resources available at both universities. The candidate is expected to bridge research and training efforts between the two universities through teaching, research and outreach. Â
